Review meet on PMEGP

GUWAHATI, April 21: A review meeting on Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) was held at Udyog Bhawan, Bamunimaidam today.

Conducting the review meeting, Commissioner, Industries and Commerce, Dr. KK Dwivedi said, “PMEGP is an effective scheme to tackle unemployment, generate sustaible employment opportunities in rural and urban areas and fincial institutions like banks play a crucial role here.”

The Commissioner asked the banks to work in right earnest to meet the targets of the programme and expedite the disbursement of the margin money to benefit the people.

State Director of KVIC, Ashish Prasad Modak, and representatives of all leading banks operating in the state were present in today’s review meeting.It may be mentioned that PMEGP is a credit-linked subsidy programme of the Ministry of MSME for creation of employment in both rural and urban areas. Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is the Nodal Agency of the programme.
