Revised wages under private security agency

GUWAHATI, Feb 28: Labour Welfare Department, Assam, in consultation with the Minimum Wages Advisory Board, has revised the minimum rates of wages payable to the employees or workers employed under the “Private Security Agency House”. According to the revision, the new wages are Rs 18,700 pm for ASO, Rs 15,600 for supervisor, Rs 13,700 for gunman (armed) and Rs 10,700 and 13,700 and for security guard (urmed).

Accommodation, employers’ contribution of any EPF/ESI and any other social scheme is excluded from the minimum rates of wages. In addition to fixed rate of minimum wages, the employees shall be entitled to Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) @ 100% over rise and fall of Index Point in the All India Consumer Price Index (Base 2001= 100) for industrial workers calculated with reference to the wages of workers Rate of VDA shall be calculated in every six months on the basis of the changes in CPI during the intervening period.
