'Prime accused of Hotel Sun City suicide case a history-sheeter'

GUWAHATI, Sept 22: The city is police is on the lookout for Pulin Gogoi, a tive of zira in Sivasagar district for his involvement in the suicide case where four persons killed themselves in a city hotel on Wednesday.

It may be mentioned that the bodies of Prasanta Kumar (31), his wife Pompi Kalita (27), her cousin Amika Kalita (21), and the couple's one-year old daughter Megh, were recovered from the Sun City Hotel at Ganeshguri. Prelimiry investigation suggested it to be a case of suicide. 

Briefing media persons, Guwahati city Police Commissioner Hiren Chandra th said that a team of Dispur Police Station had already left for zira on the lookout for Pulin Gogoi.

"Pulin Gogoi is a history-sheeter. Police investigation revealed that he is involved in several cases of fraud. He was termited from the post of constable during his posting at 13th Assam Police Battalion at Lilabari in 2011," th said.

He further mentioned that Prasanta Kumar med six persons in the suicide note. "However, we won't reveal the mes as it may hamper the investigation," the Police Commissioner said.

Citing few lines from the suicide note, th said that the deceased Prasanta Kumar had illegal affair with Amika Kalita. "The suicide note stated that both, Prasanta and Amika had an illegal affair which was known to many. That was also a reason, as mentioned in the note, why Amika accompanied the other three to take the extreme step," he said.

The police Commissioner also said that a special investigation team headed by ADGP Bibekanda Das was constituted to help the investigation officer (IO) investigating the case. "The Chief Minister has also instructed to expedite the investigation process. We are on the lookout for Pulin Gogoi, who is currently absconding. A reward is also announced for those who give information about Gogoi," he informed.

th further mentioned that Gogoi collected Rs. 77 lakhs from 62 persons on the pretext of giving Government jobs. "He divorced his first wife before marrying Mamu Dihingia who also has a case registered against her at Moran Police Station," he stated.

It may be mentioned that one fraud case was registered against Pulin Gogoi at Dispur Police Station in 2013 where the complaint, Ajit Deka of Kamalpur alleged that Gogoi took five lakhs on the pretext of giving job to two persons at the Water Resource Department.
