GUWAHATI, March 13: People across the state celebrated Holi for two days. People from all walks of life were seen in the streets and localities besmearing one another with colours.

Along with sale of colours, sale of eggs also witnessed a quick spurt throughout the day. The few of the grocery shops that remained open today sold their stocks meant for tomorrow. Some of the shopkeepers also sold eggs at Rs 6 to 7 an egg against Rs 5.

“Youth like to play with eggs along with colours in Holi. Eggs are smashed on head as part of celebration. I kept additiol 3 plates of eggs for the purpose. I sold all of them,” shopkeeper Dhanjit Kalita said.

“I had to turn down regular customers who opted to have egg for dinner. It was too late for them as I sold the whole box containing 12 plates. Each plate contains 30 eggs,” Sharma, another shopkeeper, said.
