Risk taking helps children solve problems: Saikia

GUWAHATI, Jan 2: Special DGP (Law and Order, Guwahati) Kuladhar Saikia has said that children need to be encouraged to take risk so as to make them capable of finding solutions to problems they may face in life.

The police officer said this at the 55th foundation day celebration of Guwahati Refinery which he took part as the chief guest today. “Ideas have the propensity of spreading and creating further ideas. We need to educate and encourage children to cultivate risk taking behaviour and understand concepts for finding solutions to every problem,” he said while addressing a gathering of employees.

This year the foundation day of Guwahati Refinery was observed on January 2 and it began with floral tribute at the statue of late Hem Baruah, eminent litterateur, parliamentarian and the pioneer whose efforts led to the birth of the Refinery.

This was followed by a function at the Refinery plant canteen attended by a large gathering of employees. The writer and top police officer attended the function as the chief guest.Saikia appreciated the collective efforts of the employees of Guwahati Refinery in contributing to its achievements for the past 55 years. Praising the CSR initiatives of the Refinery, he said that the Refinery has been playing a great role in not just oil refining but also supporting the needy people in society to become self-sustained.  

Guwahati Refinery executive director Jogen Barpujari, while extending his New Year wishes to the employees and assembled guests, spoke on the performance so far in the year. He also spoke on the emerging challenges for the refinery and urged all to strive hard to focus on the goals and achieve them while keeping safety considerations in mind at all times.
