GUWAHATI, Jan 24: The third edition of Rongali Festival organized by Trend MMS on ‘Bor Axom’ will be held from February 3 to 5 at Khapara and Noonmati in the city.
Traditiol houses, food, music and dance of different tribes of Assam will be presented. NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), BTC, Mising Autonomous Council (MAC), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) will showcase culture, art and crafts to woo tourists. A photography exhibition will display the major tourist prospects of Assam and the Northeast.
Around 35 dance forms, mask presentation from Samaguri Xatra, Ankia Bhaos etc., will be presented. Handloom and handicraft products, processed food and agro-horticulture products by 100 young entrepreneurs and SHGs will be on display.
Rongali festival will also see local beer promotions and ethnic cuisines by various communities. Indigenous sports of Assam such as wrestling, kabaddi and the like would be presented by The Directorate of Sports, Assam.
Sporting activities such as parasailing, paramotoring, hot air ballooning and other water sports are up for the event.
“Rongali will also be a hub of music. Performances by Parikrama, Euphoria, Zubeen Garg and others are ready to enthrall the culture vultures,” chief organizer of the festival, Syamkanu Mahanta, said.
