Guwahati, Oct 21: The Rotary Club of Guwahati organised a talk on the importance of health during their meeting that was on Monday at the Rotary Multi Service Centre here. The Guest speaker of the evening was Mahadev Deka who won the title of Mr. Universe in 2009.

While addressing the members present at the event,  Deka spoke at length about how proper nutrition, diet and exercise is a must for one’s well-being and how inculcating theses three habits is going to work wonders for an individual.

“People shy away from weight training due to the assumption that it is not meant for all ages and also that it will build up a lot of muscles. This is a wrong notion. Weight training can be done by individuals at any time of their lives and it is all the more important for women,” he said.

Deka shared about his own medical conditions that he faced while preparing for Mr. Eastern India that was held in Manipur and how despite health problems he went on winning one title after the other. It was his strong willpower and regular exercise coupled with proper nutrition and diet that made him overcome all odds.

Tit Atifa Masood, president, Rotary Club of Guwahati said, “Mahadev is a sheer example of strong will power and one who has proved that regular exercise can heal any ailment. He has achieved so much in life and has taken the me of the state to a global platform.” The event was attended by the members of the Rotary Club of Guwahati and other chapters as well, and guests from various fields. A lively interactive session was also held in the end where people had put up many questions concerning their health.
