Bag stchers back again

GUWAHATI, Dec 3: Guwahatians Be Alert! Bag stchers are back on the streets again. After a gap of considerable period, on Thursday an incident of bag stching by masked bikers have been reported from the Beltola area of the city.

It was 11.30 pm. Bikash Kumar and Santosh Sarma, two city based businessmen were on their way Cara Bank from the Axis Bank situated in Basistha Chariali. When the two men reached Srimanta Sankardev Nethralaya on their bike, suddenly two youths came on a Pulsar bike and stched the bag before pushing them away and sped off. The victims fell on the road and thus failed to even note the bike number.

The incident took place in friction of seconds and the by standers couldn’t even guess what happened. It was when the victims rrated the story, that the everyone got to know about the broad daylight robbery on road that too in a heavily crowded place like Beltola. It may be mentioned that the traffic police point was just few metres away from the crime scene.

It needs mentioning that, this is not the first such incident in the city. In the past too, several such incidents were reported from different parts of the city. The very fact that most of these crimes like bag stching and chain stching are taking place in broad daylight under the very nose of the police force that stands at every 200-300 metres exposes the loopholes in the security arrangement. 

This incident has once again, exposed the loopholes of on road safety of people in the city.
