Rs 8 lakh looted from businessman

GUWAHATI, Feb 18: Two unidentified miscreants looted Rs 8 lakh from a businessman in front of SBI’s rengi branch at Satgaon in the city today.

According to reports, the businessman, Mabendra Kalita, staying near Hindustan College at Pathar Quarry in the area, went to deposit the amount to the SBI branch at Satgaon. When Kalita went out from his house in a motorcycle (AS-25B7103) with the amount, an Activa car with two onboard – one wearing a helmet and the other having his face masked – was following him. As soon as Kalita stopped his bike in front of the bank, the two youths started to beat him black and blue, stched the cash and fled.

A case (37/17) has been registered at Satgaon Police Station in this connection.
