RTI activist alleges anomalies in CCE

BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, June 25: RTI activist Okram Prasanta Singha today alleged that injustice has been done to the people of Assam in the me of investigation into the alleged anomalies in the combined competitive examition (CCE) conducted by APSC.

Addressing a press conference here today Singha said, “The CID has initiated an inquiry into the alleged leak of question papers of CCE (Mains), 2013. The investigation officer had stated that they had got two question papers, which they shared with the APSC for verification. The APSC verbally informed the instigating officer that the question papers were not genuine. But even though CID revealed that the question papers were not genuine, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi  has hesitated to give consent for  inquiring into the alleged manipulations of answer sheets. CM is confusing the people by using term ‘inquire’ in place of ‘investigate’.”

“Documents available through RTI application revealed   that there was an intention to lowering of marks of some candidates and increasing of marks of some others during checking the answer sheets,” he said. “We, therefore, want to add some more facts to be investigated. There is a need to check whether the total number of answer sheets, which were evaluated by officially allotted examiner and the total number of answer sheets are same or not, whether the examiners for checking the answer sheets of some candidates are same in CCE 2006, 2009 and 2013 and to allow the official examiners to check the answer sheets physically again and verify them,” Singh added.
