Rupkonwar recalled

GUWAHATI, Jan 17: Along with rest of the State, the All Guwahati Students’ Union (AGSU) and the Kamrup thya Samiti recalled Rupkowar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala on his 66th death anniversary at Kumar Bhaskar tya Mandir in the city today. On this occasion, the AGSU and the tya Samiti felicitated the next of kin of as many as 21 departed artistes of the State – Rudra Baruah, Purushottam Das, Khargeswar Chakraborty, Rasheswar Saikia Barbayan, Khiroda Kanta Bishoya, Mahendra Barthakur, lini Choudhury, Ishan Baruah, Saila Baruah, Niren Baruah, Dhiru Bhuyan, Mahanda Sarma, Charu Gohain, Mohanda Mazumdar, Altaf Mazid, OP yar, Dhrubajyoti Kishore Choudhury, Hridip Dutta and Ashim Hazarika. The programme was iugurated by former Gauhati University vice chancellor Prof. Amarjyoti Choudhury by paying tribute to Agarwala. It was followed by a programme – aanror manuh gorakiloi kritojnota (gratitude to the man behind the screen). The film – Joymoti – of Agarwala was screened later.
