SAKP demands fulfillment of demands, threatens stir

GUWAHATI, May 10:  The Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) in a release on Thursday appealed to the State Government to resolve their long standing demands through dialogue on or before May 30, failing which the Parishad has threatened to launch an agitation. The Parishad has been demanding  that the report prepared by the Anomalies Committee on 7 CPC be made known, to provide free medical services to both the serving staff and pensioners of the State Government, increase the wages of the fixed pay, muster roll and casual staff besides adding various benefits and to execute the revised pay scale from January 1, 2016 onwards.

Earlier, on April 4, after a threadbare discussion on the demands in its steering committee meeting, the Parishad apprised the same in a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Finance Minister and the Chief Secretary. However, according to the release, the State Government remained mute to the issue. Highly disappointed with the prevailing silence on the issue, the central executive committee of the Parishad again discussed the matter in a meeting held at Silchar on May 6. Considering the unprecedented delay on the desired responds, the central executive committee of the Parishad has given consent to the steering committee to serve ultimatum to the State Government to fulfill the demand on or before May 30. “Unless the demands are meted as per the deadline, the Parishad will be provoked to launch a rigorous movement against the negligence of the State Government,” the release added.
