Sanjukta showcases Mekhela Chador in India Beach Fashion Week 2016

GUWAHATI, May 22: Sanjukta Dutta, an Assamese designer, is one such designer who has been increasingly gaining the reputation for keeping the Assamese traditiol attire, 'Mekhela Chador', alive. She recently showcased her collection at the India Beach Fashion Week 2016 (IBFW), in Goa yesterday.
Zareen Khan, the Bollywood diva, walked the ramp for Sanjukta Dutta, in a beautiful black Mekhela Chador and mesmerized the audience. As an artist, Sanjukta loves playing with colours and designs. The beautiful two piece attire is hand crafted with traditiol Assamese motifs and with a classy look.
Sanjukta's design philosophy for IBFW2016 was to create a unique combition, by clubbing traditions of different geographies in to one unique customized piece of garment, with the Assamese silk Mekhela – Chador.
As a bridal costume, Mekhela Chador is a must in Assamese culture and the use of golden metal yarn makes it gorgeous. Sanjukta's designs although diversified, always sticks to the tradition but with innovations.
