

My father-in-law Sardar Lal Singh passed away on August 14, 2015 at the age of 72 at Haiborgaon GDR Nursing Home, gaon following prolonged illness. He was born in 1943 at Farkating (Assam) to Late Sardar Sadhu Singh and Late Man Kaur, who had come from Punjab to Farkating in 1917 and worked as GYANIJI (Granthi) at Farkating Gurdwara Sahib. After 1943, his father Late Sardar Sadhu Singh shifted to gaon and joined Indian Railways as an ordiry Railway workman.
Sardar Lal Singh was a deeply religious and liberal minded person. He was ever ready to help people in distress. Making people happy was his inborn quality. Since his childhood he had to struggle for survival due to poverty in the family. He had a very simple life following the lofty ideals of Holly Book of Sikhism Guru-Granth Sahib. He was closely associated with Gurdwara-ksar of Borkola Singh Gaon, Gurdwara-Mataji of Chaparmukh Singh Gaon till his death though he was in gaon town area. A soft-hearted, sincere, dedicated and committed person Sardar Lal Singh was loved and respected by all who interacted with him. He had a helpful and caring ture. He loved to solve people's problem. When he was in Government service as a Junior Engineer in PWD, Diphu he was held in high esteem for his sincerity and loyalty to duties entrusted to him. He retired in 2001.
His death is a great loss to our family and friends, specially for the Sikh-Samaj at large. His death was deeply mourned by the Sikh Samaj of gaon, Borkola, Lanka and Chaparmukh Singh Gaon. He leaves behind his wife Basanti Kaur, only son Sardar Amrit Singh, three married daughters, a daughter-in-law and a host of grand children and other close relatives.
Today on the day of his Addya Shraddha (ANTIM-ARDAS- Last prayer) I, pray to the "Waheguruji" to grant eterl peace to his departed soul.
