By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 16: State Education Minister Himata Biswa Sarma has said that as many as 1,900 LP, ME and high schools located in same campuses in the State have already been amalgamated, and the process is going on.

Talking to newsmen in the city on Sunday, Sarma said: “As many as 150 girls’ high schools are going to be made co-education institutions as the number of students in the schools are on the fall.”

When asked if the government is going to provide students who lost school uniforms in flood water as the government has already made an announcement that it is going to provide new books to students who lost them in floods, Sarma said: “If the demands come, we’ll look into the matter. However, help from society in such cases sounds better. This is because when the government goes for the move it will take much time right from issuing tenders.”

When asked on idequate relief to flood-affected people in the State, Sarma said: “We’ve asked the DCs to be liberal in providing relief to the affected people. If there’s specific complaint, we’ll conduct an inquiry.”
