Sarma’s tweet sparks controversy

From a Correspondent
NEW DELHI, May 10: A day after Assam Education Minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma made an announcement for disbanding the Madrassa Education Directorate in the State various minority organizations vehemently opposed the move today. “The present government in Assam is trying to destabilize the minority community of the state...we will strongly oppose the move,” said All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) president Azizur Rahman.  “We will burn the effigy of Assam Education Minister Hemanta Biswa Sharma across the state on Thursday,” said AAMSU president Rahman. In a tweeter message, Sarma on Tuesday said, “...to mainstream Madrasa education, we’re disbanding Madrasa Education Directorate & making it part of Secondary Education Directorate.” “The Madrasa Board too will be dissolved and academic part will be handed over to Board of Secondary Education. Restructuring to reform...,” Sharma tweeted.
