Say-not-to-cracker procession in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, Oct 28: A procession was taken out today from Dighalipukhuri by Annesha, an NGO, appealing to the people of the State not to burst any crackers on Diwali, October 30, which is observed in the State as a black day.

Over 400 students from different schools of the city took part in the procession. The students appealed to the denizens of the city and the State to avoid crackers that are infamous for air and environment pollution. Actor Nipon Goswami, who took part in the event as the chief guest, also appealed to the people of the State not to use crackers in the Diwali. “Crackers not only affect human beings. They affect our pets and other animals as well,” the actor said.
