GUWAHATI, Oct 5: The Anusuchit Jati Yuva-Chatra Santha(AJYCS) seeks their reservation in the new (Provincialization of Services) Act which is in the offing.

“There were no provisions for reservation in the previous Act. The previous government turned a deaf ear to our issues. From 1952 to 1990, educatiol institutions located in the Scheduled Caste (SC)-populated areas as selected by the subdivisiol SC development boards were provincialized by the government. Such provisions were stopped later, resulting in non-reservation of people belonging to SC in the provincialized institutions,” AJYCS president Nripen Das said.

“The newly proposed eligibility criteria involving B. Ed and D.L.Et should be applicable only to the newly-appointed teachers, and not to the teachers who rendered services without payment for years,” Das said.

It is worth mentioning here that the Gauhati High Court declared the provincialization Act constitutiolly invalid and directed the state authorities to come up with a fresh legislation within the next six months.
