SC body's meet on juvenile justice from today in city

GUWAHATI, Nov 25: The two-day third round table conference of the north eastern States, including Sikkim, on implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 is going to start tomorrow at Assam Administrative Staff College in the city. The conference, being organized by the Supreme Court Committee on Juvenile Justice and hosted by the Gauhati High Court in association with the State Child Protection Society (SCPS), Assam will conclude on November 27. Supreme Court judge Justice Madan B Lokur is going to attend the conference as the chief guest. Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Ajit Singh and judges of Gauhati, Sikkim, Manipur, Tripura and Meghalaya high courts are going to attend the conference.  The main objectives of the conference are taking stocks of progress on key recommendations from round one and two, focusing primarily on rehabilitation; focus on non-institutiol mechanisms for rehabilitation and restoration of children and deliberate on the linkages of other child rights legislations, especially Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 with the JJA.
