Science & engineering fair in December

GUWAHATI, Nov 10: In order to provide a platform to the budding scientists of the region, Regiol Science Centre, Guwahati is going to organize a ‘Science and Engineering Fair’ on its premises on December 9 and 10, December.

Speaking to this reporter, Education Officer of Regiol Science Centre Ramendra Medhi said, “The main objective of organizing the Science and Engineering Fair is to provide a platform to the budding scientists of the region.  This is an initiative to give shape to their innovative ideas.” “The competition for various innovative scientific ideas has been increasing every day. Our duty is to try to take their ideas to the world. This Science and Engineering Fair is definitely going to encourage and boost the scientific mind in every child,” Medhi added.

Medhi further said that the main theme around which the students will frame their ideas in the forthcoming Science and Engineering Fair is Innovation and Sustaible Development. However, the sub themes are - health and well being, resource magement and food security, transport & communication, waste magement & water body conservation, renewable energy and mathematical modeling. The participants have to be sent by schools, colleges and science clubs, for which travelling and accommodation will be provided free of cost.  Medhi said that the top five science models from the fair would be selected for in the forthcoming Eastern India Science Fair slated to be held in Kolkata in January next.
