GUWAHATI, April 5: Seemanta Cheta Mancha celebrated its foundation day centrally at Keshabdham at Paltan Bazar in the city today. The day was also celebrated in the eight border districts of the State. Mancha’s state president Dr. Kamala Kanta Saharia said: “The defence of the border is not possible with the gun, the government and the guard if the common people aren’t aware of its importance. The border is something like our body – we feel pain when something pricks our body. Likewise, when something happens along the border, the country feels insecure. The meeting laid stress on border security.”
The meeting chaired by Wing Commander (retd) Manoj Shrutikar was attended as the chief guests by Prof. Niranjan Kalita, former MLA Ajay Dutta, singer Moushami Saharia, former DC Paramesh Dutta, administrative officer Nilambor Borgohain and others. The Mancha was founded on Ramvami at Jodhpur in Rajasthan in 1985, and its Assam chapter on Ramvami in 2005.
