Semir on Innovative Technologies in Built Environment held

Guwahati, Jan 5: A two-day technical semir on ‘Innovative Technologies in Built Environment’ organized by Indian Buildings congress and NF Railway (Construction) was iugurated by Union minister of state for railways Rajen Gohain, here today.

Gohain, while addressing the delegates, mentioned the challenges facing in built environment and maintaining a sustaible lifestyle.

He mentioned that designs inspired by the ture can play a significant role in the future of the built environment.

Innovative techniques and smart technologies can change the way we use the built environment. He emphasized to explore how local materials and tural resources can be utilized to economize the cost of structures especially for economically poor sections of society.

The semir is being attended by central and state government representatives’ major one being N. F. Railway, CPWD, EPIL, NBCC and Assam PWD.

During the occasion, Dr D. N Buragohain, founder Director of IIT, Guwahati, highlighted the various issues concerning the development of built spaces in North east region, Guwahati City in particular.  

He appealed to the eminent engineers from participating departments to suggest ways and means to improve the built environment in Guwahati.
