Sensitization training programme on road safety

GUWAHATI, Oct 19: The tiol Highways Authority of India (NHAI) accords paramount importance to safe and secure travel along tiol Highways.

As a step towards ensuring the same, NHAI is organizing two-day awareness cum sensitization training on road safety at NEDFi Convention Centre at Dispur here on October 23 and 24.    

Raj Chakrabarty, CGM & Regiol Officer, NE, NHAI has informed that Field Officers of NHAI, Concessioires/Contractors and Supervision Consultants of NHAI will attend the training.

Road Safety Experts Dr. P. K. Sikdar, Dr. S. Gangopadhyay and Mr. Jacob George will impart training on road safety.

Senior officials of State Government and Dr. Mallikarju C., Associate Professor, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati will attend the iugural session on. The training will give an insight into the latest technology/methodology to be adopted for a safe road to the road engineers who are associated with the construction of tiol Highways.

NHAI also organized Free Eye Check-up camps for truck drivers as a part of Road Safety measures from October 2 to 6 at Pahammawlein Toll Plaza (Jorabat – Barapani stretch, Meghalaya) and at Balaji Temple, NH-37, Guwahati Bypass in association with Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya.

Out of 673 patients (drivers etc.), about 35% are having eye problems requiring spectacles. Free spectacles were provided by NHAI.

25 cataract cases were detected at Pahammawlein Toll Plaza, Meghalaya and referred to specialist for further treatment.
