Sequel of Local Kung Fu premiers

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 18: Local Kung Fu, an Assamese cinema, had its sequel Local Kung Fu 2 premiered at Jyoti Chitraban in the city today.

The sequel of the film does claim the immense success of Assam’s first martial arts comedy, Local Kung Fu.  Based on William Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors, the film will be released in theatres across Assam and the Northeast on Wednesday.

Speaking at the premier of the film, actor-director-producer Kenny Deori Basumatary said: “It’s a very difficult task to create a sequel, especially when the previous film has already set a very high benchmark. So instead of trying to extend the previous story, we have prepared a completely new story for Local Kung Fu 2. We hope our audience will love and enjoy this film as much as the previous one.”

Speaking on the storyline, Basumatary said: “The film is about two pairs of twins who get separated at birth. One pair of twins stays in Guwahati and the other stays in Tezpur. The pair in Guwahati know martial arts, but the pair in Tezpur don’t. After a series of events, the pair from Guwahati ends up in Tezpur, and that is when the confusion begins.”

Kenny Deori Basumatary and Utkal Hazowary will be seen playing the key roles in the film. The cast of the film also includes Sarmistha Chakravorty, Eepsita Hazarika, Bonny Deori, Tony Deori Basumatary, Bibhash Singha, Bibhuti Bhushan Hazarika, Yashraj Jadhav, Montu Deori and Amar Singh Deori.

Besides Assam, the film will be released in Dimapur, harlagun, Itagar, Shillong and Agartala.
