Several organizations continue to protest at Last Gate

GUWAHATI, Dec 10: On the fourth day of the winter session of the Assam Assembly too several organizations staged protest demonstration at Last Gate.

The All Assam Sanjogi Siksha Karmi Union, who is on fast unto death since last three days, carried out a massive demonstration on Thursday. The union took out a march to Dispur titled 'Dispur Chalo' to press for their demands. However, the protesters who were marching from Hatigaon side were stopped by police near the Rajdhani Masjid and the protesters were taken into custody. Along with the protesters, the police also picked those who were fasting at Last Gate and took them to Basistha police station. However, at Basistha police station, the protesters created a chaos and blocked the tiol Highway 37 for a considerable period of time. Later they were evacuated by the police.

It may be mentioned that, during scuffle with police at Dispur and Basistha, several protesters were left injured on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the other organizations who continued with protest demonstration for the fourth day include- All Assam AIDS Control Employee's Association, Assam, AICCTU and Asom Sikshak Karmachari Aikya Mancha etc.
