SFI demands security for girl students

GUWAHATI, Feb 10: The Kamrup Metro District Committee of the SFI today staged a demonstration in the city in protest against harassment of girl students in Jorhat recently.

In a release issued to the press today, committee president Pratul Barman and secretary Sangeeta Das said: “Girl students have to face such harassments due to lack of adequate street lights and police patrolling. Incidents like the one that occurred recently at DCB Road in Jorhat are also common in Guwahati city. The girl had to disclose the incident in social media.”

The Jorhat committee of the AFI also gheraoed Jorhat Sadar police station and demanded of the police to be tough against such heinous crimes. The Kamrup Metro District Committee of the SFI demanded of the administration to increase the number of street lights in the city, besides floating a helpline number. They also demanded of the administration to form committees in every educatiol institute in the State so as to sensitize people against sexual harassment.
