Shah emissary Vargiya to elicit opinion on State BJP president

GUWAHATI, Sept 11: The central committee of the BJP is sending an emissary in the form of party’s general secretary Kailash Vijay Vargiya to Assam so as to elicit opinion of the leaders of the State committee of the party on the selection of party president of the State.

Vargiya, who is on a mission to elicit the opinion of the State leaders of the party before the tiol executive meeting of the party slated to be held in Kerala on September 24, 25 and 26, 2016, is arriving in Guwahati on September 18. On September 18, he will take part in organizatiol meetings of the party at lbari, Sorbhog and Pathsala. On September 19, he is going to take part in the state core committee meeting of the party. He is going to meet the morcha and district presidents of the party on September 20, before leaving for New Delhi.

After his visit, Vargiya is to prepare a report and submit it to party president Amit Shah before the party’s tiol executive meeting at Kerala so as to me the Assam president of the party, along with the ming of presidents of four other States.

The BJP Assam Pradesh has already med 14 district presidents of the party with the addition of two more mes – Surajit Bhattacharyee for Karimganj and Debojit Bora for Golaghat – today. They party med 12 district presidents yesterday.

Unimity in ming of the State president of the party continues to elude the party. Consensus on the issue could not be reached when Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal had been to New Delhi on the twin issues of Cabinet expansion and ming the State party president recently. The conditiolity of ten-year party membership as mentioned in the party constitution has put hurdles before the candidatures of a few prospective claimants for the post.
