GUWAHATI, March 18: The footfall of BJP’s tiol president Amit Shah in Guwahati on March 24 is going to heat up the political ambience in Assam with the Saffron party making its mind well set for the panchayat poll in April.

Shah is going to attend the meeting of all booth committee presidents and other leaders of the party at Khapara on that day. The preparations of this organizatiol meet of the party were started a year back. Sources in the party say that they are always ready for panchayat poll as their organizatiol works are a continuous process. With party’s State president Ranjit Kumar Dass making it public for the party’s desire for the panchayat poll in April, the party sources say that for them it is a matter days to get ready for the poll. They bank on the fact that they are going solo in the rural poll.

The AGP, on the other hand, called a meeting of all district committee leaders in Guwahati on March 26 this year to take stock of preparations for the panchayat election. This meeting is to be followed by another meeting on April 5 this year at Khapara. All booth committees, district committee and central committee leaders of the party are going to attend the meeting.

The regiol party has already formed its election magement committee, manifesto committee, etc. It has asked its district committees to submit the lists of panchayat poll candidates by March 25. The regiol party is also rigid in fighting the election alone.

Meanwhile, BPF president Hagrama Mohilary made it clear on Sunday that his party is for an understanding in the coming panchayat poll among the coalition partners at Dispur. “If my proposal falls on deaf ears, we’ve no way out but to go solo,” he said.
