Shilpgram Mohotsav from today

GUWAHATI, Jan 16: Shilpgram Mohotsav, 2017 is going to be observed at Silpgram in Guwahati from January 17-22, 2017 with various cultural programmes.

The cultural extravaganza is being held by North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur.

Addressing the press at Guwahati Press Club here today, NEZCC director Dr. Om Prakash Bharti said: “Since assuming office as NEZCC director I have been holding such cultural programmes so as to ensure cultural coordition among the eight States of the region. Apart from cultures, the seven States have their own folklores and traditions. Such programmes help the folk cultures of the region reach each and every nook and corner of the globe. The programmes will have music, dance, dramas, exhibitions, workshops, creative works for children, cuisine, handloom exhibitions, etc.”

According to Bharti, galand Governor PB Acharya will attend the programme as the chief guest, tiol award winner Jatin Goswami from Assam, Thanil Singh from Manipur, Prof. L Khengtei from Mizoram, Dr. Helen Giri from Meghalaya, Som Chiring Lepsa and HM Lepsa from Sikkim, Guru S Longkumer from galand and Hemanta Jamatiya from Tripura will attend the programme as guests. They will be felicitated at the programme.

The NEZCC was set up at Dimapur in 1982 so as to ensure cultural coordition among the Northeast states and to propagate their cultures in rest of India and the globe.
