Shilpi Divas today

GUWAHATI, Jan 16: Assam is set to observe Shilpi Divas, the birth anniversary of Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, tomorrow. The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) is going to observe the day centrally at Dibrugarh. In Guwahati, the All Guwahati Students’ Union (AGSU), in association with Kamrup tya Samiti, will observe the day through various programmes at Kumar Bhaskar tya Mandir at Uzan Bazar in the city.
Former Gauhati University vice chancellor Prof. Amarjyoti Choudhury will open the programme by paying tribute to Agarwala at 11 am. It will be followed by a programme – aanror manuh gorakiloi kritojnota (gratitude to the man behind the screen or scene). The widows of a number of departed artistes will be honoured at the programme. The film – Joymoti – of Agarwala will be screened later.
