GUWAHATI, March 21: Shishu Sarothi organized ‘Ring the Bell’ campaign on Wednesday in association with RAISE-NE to raise awareness on the need and importance of inclusive education.

The campaign was held at the LP & ME School field, Rupgar where more than 200 children participated. The participating children will be part of this pioneering campaign. It was organized in an endeavour to create awareness on the importance of inclusive education in schools, both private and government ones.

‘Ring the Bell’ campaign is a global advocacy campaign to promote the disability inclusive education of Liliane Fonds - Jan Vikas Samiti (JVS) who is one of RAISE’s funding partners, along with other intertiol agencies, CBM and LFW.

The campaign involved ringing the bell for a minute by school children to create some noise to draw attention of key stakeholders and the masses on the issue and importance of Inclusive Education. The students also danced along to the beats of ‘dhol’, ‘taal’ and ‘pepa’ which together created a symphonic melody signifying and upholding the essence of inclusion.

RAISE North East is a project which started in 2016 to complement the flagship program of Sarva Siskha Abhiyan (SSA). RAISE-NE has 15 partners across 5 states of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, galand and Manipur in the Northeast, who will liaise with SSA of the respective states, with an aim to make 75 SSA schools models of inclusive education by the year 2020.
