Show-cause notice issued to ALA Additiol Secretary

Violation of Official Secret Act

GUWAHATI, Sept 28: The Assam Legislative Assembly has issued show-cause notice to Additiol Secretary Gajen Baruah under violation of Official Secrets Act. The show-cause notice was issued on instruction of Speaker Ranjit Kumar Dass.

The notice was issued based on an allegation by RTI activist Dulal Bora, where Bora alleged Baruah of revealing official secrets at the former’s residence.  Bora informed the Chief Secretary about revelation of official secrets by Baruah with proper photographs and documents to establish the allegation.

The Chief Secretary forwarded the complaint along with photographs and documents to the Speaker and after proper verification, the Speaker ordered issue of show-cause to Gajen Baruah, the reply of which should be sent within seven days.

There were previous allegations of Baruah being involved in some anomalies related to appointments in the Assembly during the Congress regime. He was considered to be a close associate of former Speaker Prab Kumar Gogoi.
