Silver Jubilee of ‘Kobitar Din’ on Dec 29

GUWAHATI, Dec 26: That poet bakanta Barua did write his success story has been proved today when an NGO of the State – Poetrypiece Friendship – has made it known that it is going to hold the Silver Jubilee celebrations of ‘Kobitar Din’ (a day of poetry) which it has been celebrating since 1991. This year on December 29, ‘Kobitar Din’ is going to complete long 25 years.

Talking to newsmen in the city today, Poetrypiece Friendship general secretary Lohit Hazarika said: “On this occasion, we’re going to felicitate noted poet Santa Tanti.  Kobitar Din awards will also be given away to college and university students in order to popularize the poetry of bakanta Barua.”

bakanta Barua could script a new era in Assamese literature. He translated as many as 15 books into Assamese from different languages of the world, besides creating child literature, and two books on poetry meters and orments of poetry.

During the past 24 years, Poetrypiece Friendship has been holding ‘Kobitar Din’ in memory of the great poet and felicitated as many poets. The poet they felicitated first was Binda Chanda Baruah.
