SITA getting ready to make FC know State needs

GUWAHATI, April 4: The State Innovation and Transformation Ayog (SITA) is busy making the strategy to make the 15th Fince Commission know the fincial needs of Assam. A team of the Commission is going to visit Assam by the end of this month.
Talking to the media, State Chief Secretary TY Das said: “SITA is going to play the key role in making the Fince Commission aware of the fincial needs of the State. For 75 per cent of our budget, we depend on the Centre. With three major changes in the past two years – dissolution of the Planning Commission with the emergence of the NITI Ayog, abolition of Plan and Non-plan heads of expenditure and rolling out of GST this Fince Commission would a watershed one.”
The SITA was formed on November 28, 2016 replacing Assam State Planning Board. SITA vice chairman Dipok Kumar Barthakur and CEO KK th briefed at the same press meet what it has done and what is going to do. The State Government, they said, is going to revive APOL Mill in accordance with the suggestions made by SITA. They also said that the committee formed by SITA to see the revival of ASCARD Bank is going to submit its fil report by the end of this month. “Now we’re taking up the issue of revival of six sick industries in the State like Barpeta Firecrackers, Sarthebari Brass Metal Industry etc.,” the CEO said, and added: “Now we want to be an autonomous body. We’re planning to get registered under the Society Act so as to set up an innovation hub to provide innovative ideas.”
