Skill development training in horticulture

GUWAHATI, July 27: A skill development training programme in Horticulture at Horticulture Research Station (HRS), Kahikuchi, Guwahati was successfully concluded recently.

The training programme was organized by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati and sponsored by “Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity Conservation Society, APFBCS”, Forest Department, Govt. of Assam.

The skill development training programme was part of the APFBC Society sponsored and Agence France de Développement (AFD) funded project “Consortium for Micro Planning and Enhancing Livelihood Opportunities, COMPELO”.

A total of 25 numbers of lead farmers from Fatasimul Block EDC, Silbori Forest Range under Mangaldai Wildlife Division participated in the training programme.

Altogether 20 Scientists from HRS and KrishiVigyan Kendra, Kahikuchi, Guwahati were associated as the Resource Persons. During the training programme, the participants were trained with the current prospect of good agricultural practices and other aspects.

Dr Sarat Saikia, chief scientist and Dr Jayanta Kumar Sharma, senior scientist and training coorditor, HRS, Kahikuchi actively took part from the beginning till the completion of the training programme.  The valedictory session was attended over by Mr. Manoj Kumar Das, Director, IIE Guwahati and others. This was stated in a press release.
