‘Sky watching live’ for students

GUWAHATI, Dec 13: Guwahati Planetarium is coming out with a New Year theme for students – sky watching live – from the last week of December to the first week of January 2017. During this period, students will be able to watch what is happening in the sky, live. Of late, the planetarium has brought about some changes on its infrastructure front. Its octomechanical system has done away with the introduction of Japanese hybrid planetarium system so as to keep pace with other advanced planetariums in the world.  The new system was introduced by costing Rs 4.540 crore. There is yet another change in the infrastructure. The age-old slideshow has been done away with modern all-done shows. According to sources in the planetarium, 600-700 people visit the planetarium daily. Every day there are five shows, each with 40-minute duration.
