Sleuths seize five passbooks, other documents from IAS officer's house

GUWAHATI, Jan 19: Vigilance and Anti-corruption sleuths seized five passbooks and other documents from the city residence of former State Social Welfare Director (IAS) Kumud Kalita after a daylong search. The sleuths searched the house from 8 in the morning to 5 in the evening.

The IAS officer, who had been evading arrest for the past one year, was arrested on January 6 near Gauhati High Court in connection with his role in the multi-crore-rupee Social Welfare scam in the State.
