Slogans rend air at Dispur Last Gate | 5 Sep, 2017

GUWAHATI, Sept 4: Demands and slogans rent the air at Dispur Last Gate in the city on the first day of the Assam Assembly session on Monday. Scorching heat and heavy rains amidst gun-toting police personnel on guard marked the scene.

There were as many as twelve organizations that staged dhar and demonstration at Dispur Last Gate in support of their respective demands.

A large number of members of the Sadou Asha Karma Santha were seen shouting slogans daring the scorching heat and the heavy rains. They were demanding the release of their remuneration amounting to Rs 1,000 per month as declared by Dispur in 2013.

Cachar and gaon Paper Mill Employees' Family Members were shouting in full throttle for their payment so as to ensure food security of their children and parents. Leaders of the organization had a discussion with the Chief Minister later in the day. The Chief Minister told them of trying his best to find a solution to their problem.

Members of the Sonowal Kachari Gamancha, Asom were shouting slogans for the inclusion of the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council under Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.

As many as six Rabha organizations – ARSU, ARWC, SSDC, BRKR, ARNC and SRKS – were demanding the inclusion of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.

Apart from them, the All Assam Trained Home Guard Association, Asom Sikshak Karmachari Aikya Mancha, the Sadou Asom Bikalanga Santha, Amchang Abhoyaranya Dantikashoriya Sthayee Jagosthiya Bhoomi Sanrokshan Suraksha Samiti, the All Assam Forest Department Casual (Left out) Worker Association, the All Assam Sanskrit Unyan Parishad, Akhil Bharatiya Chah Mazdoor Sangha (Assam) and the All Assam Deori Students' Union also staged demonstration at the site.
