Smriti Irani to deliver MK Barua memorial lecture tomorrow

GUWAHATI, Dec 11: Union Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Zubin Irani is going to deliver the MK Barua Memorial Lecture on ‘Education as a Tool for Women’s Empowerment in our Society’ on December 13 at Mamma Margaret Hall, Don Bosco School, Panbazar, Guwahati.

New Art Players (P), a premier socio-cultural, non-political and recreatiol organization in Guwahati, is currently celebrating its Diamond Jubilee Year (2014-2015) with a year-long programme. As a part of the celebration, P is organizing a lecture in memory of its founder president, Late Mahendra Kumar Barua, on December 13 at 12-30 om at the Mamma Margaret Hall, Don Bosco School, Panbazar, Guwahati.

It may mentioned here that the P is organizing this biennial lecture series since 1989, and eminent persolities of tiol and intertiol fame, including former Chief Election Commissioner TN Sesan, former Solicitor General Soli Sorabji, eminent film director Shyam Benegal, renowned TV anchor and jourlist lini Sigh and others spoke on topics of tiol importance and relevance before distinguished gathering.

Union minister Irani would grace the occasion as the chief guest. In tandem with the occasion, the P will also felicitate a few women achievers of North-East India for their valuable contribution to society, said P general secretary Rathindra rayan Bhattacharjya in a statement issued to the press today.
