SMSS condemns 'inhuman atrocities' by Golaghat DSP on protesters

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), Dec 14: Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS) has strongly condemned the role of Deputy Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Saikia as activists protesting near the Deputy Commissioner’s office against the firing incident at Bogidhola TE were lathicharged.

In a press statement, assistant secretary of Golaghat SMSS, Debabrata Saikia alleged that DSP Partha Protim Saikia jumped on the posters and inhumanly beat them in presence of Additiol Deputy Commissioner Orpha Baglary for staging the protest. Besides, the police caught four members of SMSS, Satrbrat Saikia, Tulukon Rajput, bin Karmakar and Dipak Boraik and took them to the Golaghat Police Station. In the police station, DSP Partha Protim Saikia allegedly cruelly beat them. The SMSS slammed the role of DSP and said that Golaghat Police was more interested to protect the Bogidhola Tea Estate owner. Further, they also alleged that the district administration was also trying to protect the tea garden owner. They demanded action against the DSP.
