Social activist Ajali Baruah passes away

GUWAHATI, January 4: Noted social activist Anjali Barua, a resident of Krishgar in Guwahati, passed away at her residence this morning in her sleep. She was 85. Throughout her life, she had been an active social worker, holding several important offices in various organizations like the Indian Council for Child Welfare (Assam State branch) of which she was a founder member, Indian Council for Social Welfare, Indian Red Cross Society, Bharat Seva Mission, Voluntary Health Association of India, Assam State Social Welfare Board, Assam Sishu Kalyan Sadan, among others.  She was a domint persolity of the locality, loved and respected by all. Her husband, Late Krish Prasad Barua, predeceased her in 1993. She leaves behind a son, two daughters, six grandchildren and a host of relatives and admirers. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi condoled her death.
