Sonowal, Cabinet colleagues call on Governor

GUWAHATI, Dec 23: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, along with his cabinet colleagues, called on Governor Banwarilal Purohit at Raj Bhawan on Thursday evening and discussed several development issues concerning the State.

Purohit, since assuming the gubertorial office, has been taking keen interests to stimulate development of Assam and accordingly he held an exhaustive discussion with the Chief Minister and his Cabinet ministers on the priorities of the Government. The Governor also outlined the need of extending governce to every nook and corner and hailed the reiteration on government’s pet programme ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Bikash’. Sonowal apprised the Governor of the initiatives that the present government has been taking for the welfare of all sections of the people of the State.   

Purohit discussed at length the status of various road development projects. The Governor emphasized that road is the life line of development and is the harbinger of economy which also brings tourists, health services, transport etc. He added that the all road projects in the tiol Highway in Assam be taken in the right earnest, including other development works. He asked PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya to look after the projects so that the works get completed at an early date so that people from all over the country can explore tural beauty and rich and undiluted culture of Assam.

The Governor also discussed rhino poaching and asked Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma to keep an eye with her men and machinery and adopt more stringent, proactive and vigilant measures to curb the mece.

The Governor also endorsed various schemes that the present State Government has been taking on agriculture, water resources, information and technology, education, health, irrigation, road transport, labour welfare etc., and laid emphasis on ensuring their effective and speedy implementation.

Commerce and Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Rihon Daimary, PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Water Resources Minister Keshab Majanta, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Environment and Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister Hrishikesh Goswami were present on the occasion.
