Sonowal calls on idu
GUWAHATI, Aug 23: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal called on Vice President of India M Venkaiah idu in the latter’s official residence at Maula Azad Road in New Delhi on Wednesday. During his maiden visit to the new Vice President, Sonowal extended his warm greetings and expressed hope that democracy in India would be further strengthened and the tion-building process would get a major boost with idu assuming the office of the second top constitutiol post of the country. The Chief Minister also thanked idu for the love and affection he had shown towards Assam and the North-East during his stint as Union Cabinet Minister and sought his cooperation in highlighting the issues of the region at different fora. Sonowal also hoped that the country would immensely benefit from idu’s vast experience of public life and in-depth knowledge of parliamentary rules and regulations.
