Sonowal directs swift action on caterpillar mece

GUWAHATI, Sept 13: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal has directed deputy commissioners to persolly inspect the farming lands with the district agricultural officers concerned in their districts to assess the damage caused by the swarming caterpillar or armyworm and take all necessary action to contain the problem.
In a statement today, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the swarming caterpillar attack on the farming lands has been taken very seriously by the government and all efforts have been made for swift and immediate action to control the situation. For that purpose, deputy commissioners themselves have been directed to go for field verification so that the armyworm mece can be prevented from affecting more farming lands, he said.
