Sonowal releases 5 books of Jayashree

GUWAHATI, Dec 23: “Literature is the mirror of society and it plays a great a role in bringing about an intellectual awakening in society. Society is reflected through literature and people can draw inspirations from the timeless works of master litterateurs,” Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal said today while releasing five books – Drocharya, Asom Andolan (Part seven), Srestha Bidesi Golpo, Ekuki Dhemelia Sadhu and Thothar Anguthi – written by Dr. Jayshree Goswami Mahanta at Assam State Museum.    

Sonowal said that Dr. Goswami has ably highlighted different facets of society through her literary works. He said that Dr. Goswami has put a mirror to society and strongly thrown light on the different aspects of modern day life through her intellectual faculty and lucid writing style.  Sonowal had a word of praise for Dr. Goswami for successfully publishing five books within a year and that too on five different topics, which is no mean feat.

Saying that all tions have taken strong steps for women empowerment in the 21st century, Sonowal stated that works of litterateurs like Dr. Goswami have highlighted the strong roles played by women in society and their undeniable contribution in forming a collective conscience and tion building. “The aspirations of all sections of society must be adequately represented through our literature,” Sonowal added.

Reiterating the role played by book fairs in generating interest in books among the people Sonowal said that the writers from young generation have brought a lot of vibrancy to the state’s literature scene in the recent years and it is a positive sign that the youth is increasingly taking to writing.  Urging the young writers to make their presence felt at the tiol and intertiol level by highlighting the different facets of the state in front of the readers, Sonowal said that the youth must play their role in building a strong society through their literary works.  Sonowal also wished former Chief Minister Prafulla Mahanta on his birthday and wished him good health on the occasion.
