Sonowal seeks help from Ravi Shankar

Rehabilitation of surrendered militants

GUWAHATI, Sept 8: Chief Minister Sarbada Sonowal expressed his government’s intention of entering into an agreement with Art of Living Foundation for meaningful and purposeful rehabilitation of the surrendered militants in Assam.

Interacting with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar the founder of Art of Living Foundation at Assam Administrative Staff College in the city on Thursday evening along with other ministers, MLAs and senior government officials, Chief Minister Sonowal, while hailing the organization’s educatiol and humanitarian movement, requested Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to help the State Government with his expertise in rehabilitating the surrendered militants in the State. Chief Minister Sonowal also requested Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for conducting course in all the 31 prisons in Assam. At present the Art of Living Foundation conducts in 10 prisons in the State. He also lauded Guruji’s efforts in motivating the militants to shun the path of violence and come to the main stream of the society.

Sonowal also pitched for a tie up with Art of Living for starting a Sports Academy in the State and sought Guruji’s help in this regard. Sonowal also requested Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to help State Government’s endeavour for maintaining a sustaible legacy of quality human life.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, while sharing his thoughts in the house, appealed everybody to maintain a disease-free health, as a sound health determines peace and wellness of human being. He also advised the government machinery a set a vision for the State and to achieve the vision he advocated for extensive use coordition, commitment and communication.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar also hailed Chief Minister Sonowal’s approach of a ‘Team Assam’ to expedite development in the State. He also expressed hope that the new dispensation in the State under the leadership of Sarbanda Sonowal would do exceedingly well in expediting the growth trajectory of the State taking all sections of the people on board.
