Sonowal seeks release of MGNREGA funds

GUWAHATI, Feb 21: In a move to speed up and stimulate development of large swathes of rural Assam, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, who is in an official tour to New Delhi,  held discussion with Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj Minister rendra Singh Tomar and sought his support in releasing fund for material component under MGNREGA to Assam.

Chief Minister Sonowal had a discussion with rendra Singh Tomar today in New Delhi and drew his attention to several schemes related to rural Assam and sought his help to release funds for early completion of the projects taken under the MGNREGA. Sonowal told Union Minister that early release of fund would help the State Government to expeditiously complete several schemes and to bring large swathes of rural Assam to government’s agenda of priorities. Sonowal also apprised Tomar of recently launched Chief Minister’s Samagra Grammya Unyan Yoja and a broad roadmap it has drawn to facilitate an all round development of Assam.
