Sonowal to expand Cabinet before I-Day?

GUWAHATI, August 6: BJP sources in the State claim that new ministers to be inducted are going to hoist the tiol flags in the Independence Day celebrations. Of the eight vacant berths, mes for six have already been chosen, they claim.   

According to the party sources, none of the existing ten ministers, excluding the Chief Minister, will be sacked. “However, there’s every possibility of shuffling of portfolios, especially of the non-performing and overburdened ministers,” the sources said, and added: “mes of Phani Bhushan Choudhury of the AGP and Chandan Brahma of the BPF are fil. Front-running mes doing the rounds from the BJP are Piyush Hazarika, Tapan Kumar Gogoi, Sumu Ronghang and Bhabesh Kalita. Other mes doing rounds from the party are Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Bolin Chetia and Prasanta Phukan.”

State Fince Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was on record saying recently that the high command had given its nod for the Cabinet expansion. It is the Chief Minister to decide the timing of the expansion.
