Space entrance schedules, AASU urges 3 varsities

GUWAHATI, July 13: Education in Assam does make news, often for wrong reasons.

Assam University at Silchar, Cotton College State University (CCSU) in Guwahati and Bodoland State University (BSU) in Kokrajhar are set to hold their respective entrance examitions for post-graduation courses almost at the same time, a situation that is set to deprive a large number of students from getting admission.

Taking up the matter seriously, the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has appealed to the three universities to reschedule their entrance examitions so as to let willing students appear in all the entrance examitions. In a statement issued to the press today, AASU’s education secretary Sarat Hazarika said: “This is unfortute. The students will suffer a lot. Assam University announced the date earlier. The other two universities announced the date later, but didn’t feel like keeping comfortable gaps from the entrance schedule of Assam University. This smacks of lack of coordition among the universities on such vital issues. We request the authorities concerned of the three universities to reschedule and comfortably space their examition schedules so as to let students appear in all the three entrance examitions.”
