Special programme among juniors and seniors on Kati Bihu

GUWAHATI, Oct 16: The TREE, a non-government organization, is going to organize a special programme on the coming Kati Bihu on October 18 among the senior and junior people of the city to create awareness among the children about culture. TREE president Bhargab jyoti Borah said in a statement today: "We are going to organize a special programme called 'Kati Bihur Xipar Xondhanot Tuloxir Tole Tole', to create awareness about the importance of the rituals of Kati Bihu, which is nowadays decreasing its fame among state people. We will organise a discussion among the senior ladies from old-age home Seneh and the children of orphage, Noonmati Sishu Mangal Kendra, where the senior ladies will share their experiences and importance of this Bihu to the children. We will also observe the rituals of the Bihu in the programme like making of foundation of Basil, planting sapling of Basil, lightening of flames known as Akax Banti, religious prayer and others for the knowledge of the tradition."
